During its long history, Rockplan has been involved in numerous metro, transportation and parking facility projects. The planning of underground infrastructure must consider potential continued uses of the spaces after the end of the first use.
The first phase of the West Metro extension, which began in 2007, and the second phase, which began in 2013, have been large and long-term projects. Rockplan has been involved in the consulting consortia in both phases. Rockplan was responsible for the principal design as well as rock mechanics and tunneling design in the first phase and for rock mechanics and tunneling design and structural design in the second phase.
As for traffic tunnels, Rockplan has participated in the Vuosaari traffic tunnels and Paloheinä public transportion tunnel projects.
Rockplan has also gained ample experience in the principal, architectural, structural and rock mechanics and tunneling design of parking facilities. Rockplan has been part of the design organization for the construction projects Ässäpark, Kamppi Center, Etelä-Hermann underground parking facility and Erottaja parking facility, among others.
